HARARE, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's tourist arrivals grew by 50 percent to 529,078 in the first half of 2023, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) said Friday.

Tourism receipts grew by 16 percent to 343.1 million U.S. dollars, compared to the same period last year, the ZTA said on Twitter, adding that investment into the country's tourism sector increased by almost 100 percent to 96.5 million U.S. dollars in the first half of the year.

"We attribute the sector's continued positive performance to various marketing and investment initiatives," the ZTA said.

The sector is strategically important to Zimbabwe's economy through foreign currency and employment generation.

Zimbabwe boasts an array of globally competitive tourist attractions including Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. Enditem
