WASHINGTON -- Former U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that he would turn himself in on Thursday to the authorities in Atlanta for the Georgia election interference case.
Trump and 18 others were indicted on Aug. 14 over alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia. Trump was charged with 13 counts, including violating the state's racketeering act, soliciting a public officer to violate their oath, conspiring to impersonate a public officer, conspiring to commit forgery in the first degree, and conspiring to file false documents. BANGKOK -- Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Tuesday was transported to prison soon after his return to the country after years of exile as Thailand's Supreme Court issued an 8-year detention order for him.
The court's criminal division for holders of political positions announced a statement saying Thaksin is convicted of 8-year imprisonment related to his three convictions passed on the 74-year-old in absentia. (Thailand-Thaksin)

NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for South Africa on Tuesday at the invitation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to participate in the BRICS Summit to be held in Johannesburg, announced the Ministry of External Affairs.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's National Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Hun Manet as the new prime minister for a five-year term after his ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won a landslide victory in the July 23 general election, according to the state-run TVK.
