LA PAZ, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian forward Enner Valencia was on target as Brazil's Internacional secured a 1-0 away win over Bolivian side Bolivar in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal on Tuesday.
Valencia struck in the 16th minute when he ran onto Alan Patrick's pass and dribbled into the area before angling an unstoppable shot into the far corner.
Bolivar controlled 63% of possession and had 23 shots on goal but could not find a way past a frugal Internacional defense at the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz.
The return fixture will be played at Internacional's Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre next Tuesday (Aug. 29).
Internacional are seeking their third Copa Libertadores title while Bolivar are aiming to become Bolivia's first ever winner of South America's premier club competition. Enditem
