SYDNEY, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Police in the Australian state of Queensland said on Friday that two teenagers were charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of a security guard in Helensvale.

At around 7:45 a.m. local time, police were called to a shopping center in Helensvale, after reports of a disturbance during which the male security guard sustained multiple stab wounds.

The 57-year-old victim was transported to the hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Those involved fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police later tracked the car and took four people, including a 19-year-old man, a 17-year-old man, and two girls aged 16 and 13, into custody.

According to Queensland Police, the 19-year-old man has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, robbery with violence, attempt to enter premises, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, while the 13-year-old girl faced only one charge of attempted murder.

Both suspects would front local courts on Saturday, with the two others expected to be charged over the coming days. Enditem
