CAIRO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan arrived here on Tuesday for talks with Egyptian president to address conflicts in Khartoum, semi-governmental Al-Qahera News TV channel reported.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi welcomed him at the coastal El Alamein International Airport in the northern part of the country.

This marks the first trip for Al-Burhan, who is also the general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), since the clashes broke out between the SAF and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in mid-April.

"The two leaders will discuss developments in Sudan and means of developing Egyptian-Sudanese relations as well as issues of mutual concern," said a statement of the Sudanese council.

Since April 15, deadly armed clashes between the SAF and the RSF in Khartoum and other areas have killed over 3,000 people and injured more than 6,000, according to the Sudanese Health Ministry.

More than 4 million people have fled their homes, with 3.2 million displaced internally and close to 900,000 seeking refuge in countries including Chad, Egypt, and South Sudan, according to the latest UN estimates. Enditem
