XIAMEN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Christian Coleman of the United States and Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh both equaled world-leading results to claim the men's 100m and women's high jump golds respectively at the Diamond League Meeting here on Saturday.

Three-time world champion Coleman led the men's 100m from the start to finish, storming to the line in 9.83 seconds, 0.02 seconds ahead of Kishane Thompson of Jamaica.

"I knew what I was capable of. I just had to put my best race out there," said Coleman afterwards, adding that he was keen to bounce back from not finishing in the top three at the Budapest World Championships.

"It's world-class today. I knew everybody wanted to bounce back after not medaling at the world championships. I knew this would be a highly anticipated race and I was grateful for the opportunity. I'm capable of beating anybody in the world, I just execute in the best way that I know."

Coleman ranked fifth at the World Athletics Championships that ended last Sunday, where defending champion Fred Kerley and Olympic champion Marcell Lamont Jacobs failed to make the final.

The pair had to settle with another upset result in Xiamen, as Kerley of the United States finished with a bronze in 9.96 seconds and Italy's Jacobs ranked only seventh in 10.05 seconds.

Elsewhere, newly-crowned world champion Mahuchikh finished with 2.02m to tie the world-leading height to win the women's high jump.

"All the girls are tired after Budapest but I really appreciate the support of my Chinese fans. It was an enjoyable competition. I just want to show my best here today," said Mahuchikh after taking the gold.

Elsewhere, Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco won the men's 3,000m steeplechase in 8:10.31, Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic cruised to victory in the women's 400m in 49.36 seconds, and Serbia's Ivana Vuleta finished with 6.88m to take gold in the women's long jump.

Feng Bin, bronze medalist in the women's discus in Budapest, put on a last-throw comeback in front of her home crowd. Trailing by 21 centimeters before her final attempt, Feng managed to increase her best performance of the day to 67.41m, beating the 67.32m thrown by Croatia's Sandra Perkovic.

"Both the gold today and the bronze in Budapest give me more confidence in my ability because I came to know my true potential," said Feng.

The next Diamond League will be held in Brussels, Belgium on September 8. Enditem
