TEHRAN -- Five people were killed and at least 41 others injured on Wednesday in a collision between a bus and eight sedans on an intercity road in Iran's northern province of Mazandaran, IRIB news agency reported.

The deadly incident occurred in Savadkuh County in the morning as the bus with malfunctioning brakes veered off the course and ran into eight sedans in the opposite lane before halting on an emergency escape ramp, IRIB quoted Mazandaran's Traffic Police Chief Yadollah Jahantab as saying. KIEV -- The Ukrainian parliament on Wednesday approved legislation to appoint Rustem Umerov as the country's new defense minister, lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak said.

CAIRO -- At least four people were killed and five others wounded on Wednesday in a building collapse in Egypt's capital Cairo, the state-run Ahram newspaper reported.
