TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday said Iran is ready to help establish strong relations between regional states and the European Union (EU).

BEIRUT -- Five Lebanese soldiers were injured on Sunday evening after explosives fell on their positions near the Ain Al-Helweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon as armed clashes intensified between members of the Fatah Movement and Islamic militants.

ABUJA -- Twenty-six bodies have been recovered, while about 44 are still missing after a boat capsized in the Mokwa local government area of Nigeria's central Niger State, local authorities confirmed.

MOGADISHU -- The UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, has expressed concern about increased deaths and serious injuries to children involved in landmine explosions which have claimed at least 30 lives since June in Somalia.

Nejmudin Kedir Bilal, acting UNICEF representative in Somalia, said several children have been victims in three separate incidents that involved discharges of unexploded ordnances in recent days. "Countrywide, at least four children are reported dead, and five children have been left with life-threatening injuries after playing with remnants of war," Bilal said in a statement issued in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, Saturday evening.
