MANILA -- An offshore earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 rocked Cagayan province in the northern Philippines Tuesday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The institute said the quake, which occurred at 7:03 p.m. local time, hit at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 26 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island in Calayan town. (Philippines-Earthquake)

SYDNEY -- China was the largest market for Australia's agricultural products in the 2022-23 financial year, with the value of exports reaching a new high, a report has found.

ISLAMABAD -- Two people were injured in a hand grenade explosion in capital city Quetta of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, police said.

KABUL -- Four alleged kidnappers have been confirmed killed after police launched an operation in Police District 8 of Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Monday night, local media reported Tuesday.

Special units of the police launched the operation in Karta-e-Naw locality of Police District 8 of Kabul city in an effort to rescue a person from the clutch of kidnappers, but the hostage had been killed by kidnappers, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported. (Afghanistan-Kidnappers)

CANBERRA -- Authorities have declared an emergency situation for an Australian outback town as a major out-of-control bushfire continues to grow.
