TEHRAN, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's Ambassador Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi on Monday expressed his country's readiness to expand cooperation with Iran in the petrochemical industry, according to Iran's official news agency IRNA.
The Saudi envoy made the remarks while attending the 17th International Exhibition of Plastics, Rubber, Machinery and Equipment being held in the Iranian capital Tehran.
He said there are common grounds for cooperation between Iranian and Saudi petrochemical industries, adding Saudi Arabia's Basic Industries Corporation, a chemical manufacturing company, and Iranian petrochemical firms can cooperate in many areas.
The diplomat expressed hope that Iran's National Petrochemical Company would coordinate meetings among those involved in the Iranian and Saudi petrochemical industries.
He also hailed Iran's "significant" scientific and technological progress in the petrochemical industry.
A total of 560 domestic firms as well as 210 foreign companies have taken part in the expo, according to a report published on the exhibition's website. Enditem
