CAIRO, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian police arrested on Tuesday two suspects over murdering a foreign ex-diplomat, said the Egyptian Interior Ministry in a statement.

The victim was stabbed to death at his apartment in the Mohandiseen district in Giza by his Egyptian maid, who plotted the murder with her male partner, a driver, who gave her a ride to the place.

According to media reports, the victim was identified as Hood bin Saif Al-Alawi, who had previously served as a media advisor at the Omani embassy in Cairo, which has expressed its regret for Al-Alawi's death.

The crime was motivated by a robbery as the detained perpetrators confessed, according to the Egyptian police.

The police also seized the objects stolen during the crime, including a metal safe, 14 cell phones, seven watches, a camera, and amounts of money in local and foreign currency. Enditem
