DHAKA -- Bangladesh has suffered its worst day yet of the dengue this year as deaths of the disease reached the previous record on Wednesday.

Bangladesh reported 3,015 new dengue cases and 21 new deaths on Wednesday, taking the tally to 176,810 and the death toll to over 850 so far this year, the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health said. (Bangladesh-Dengue-Infection)

SEOUL -- The South Korean parliament on Thursday approved a motion seeking the arrest of Lee Jae-myung, chief of the main opposition Democratic Party.

It came after the prosecution sought the arrest warrant for Lee over charges including breach of trust and bribery earlier this week. Lee has been on a hunger strike for about three weeks to protest against government policies, including that the South Korean government has supported Japan's dumping of radioactive wastewater into the ocean. NEW DELHI -- India suspended visa services for Canadian citizens, visa service provider BLS International said Thursday on its website, citing a notice from the Indian mission.

The announcement came amid a diplomatic tussle between the two countries, where Ottawa accused New Delhi of involvement in the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada. Both countries had expelled each other's diplomats from their respective embassies. (India-Canada-Visa)

HONG KONG -- An opening ceremony was held here on Thursday for the Hong Kong Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal, which will facilitate Hong Kong's transition towards carbon neutrality.

Jointly developed and constructed by CLP Power Hong Kong and Hongkong Electric since 2020, the offshore LNG terminal was the first of its kind in Hong Kong, and its operation has enhanced Hong Kong's fuel supply stability by the addition of a new supply source for natural gas.
