Chinese consulate general in Istanbul celebrates 74th founding anniversary of PRC

ISTANBUL, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- A grand reception was held on Friday evening in Türkiye's largest city Istanbul to mark the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Many overseas Chinese and Turkish guests as well as members of diplomatic missions attended the event, hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul, which included live performances by Chinese singers and dancers and a gala dinner.

Wei Xiaodong, consul general of China in Istanbul, addressed the guests that for the past 74 years, the Communist Party of China had led China's modernization, achieving rapid economic growth and long-term social stability.

"China cannot develop in isolation from the world nor can the world develop without China," Wei added.

He stressed that China's average contribution to global economic growth exceeded 30 percent during the 2013-2021 period, and its contribution to world poverty reduction exceeded 70 percent.

For his part, Mustafa Osman Turan, foreign relations advisor to the mayor of Istanbul, highlighted the excellent relations between Türkiye and China, expressing hope that Istanbul and Chinese cities may further improve their relations through various innovative opportunities in the future. Enditem
