HARARE, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A new cholera outbreak has been reported in Zimbabwe's Buhera District in Manicaland Province, resulting in 12 deaths out of 152 confirmed cases over the past month, Health and Child Care Minister Douglas Mombeshora said on Tuesday.

He said that the government has implemented measures to contain the outbreak, including the mobilization of equipment for borehole drilling and the activation of the district's civil protection unit.

"This outbreak has been ongoing since Aug. 26. We have mobilized resources to help the management of the outbreak and assist the district to ensure everything is under control," the minister said during a media briefing. Zimbabwe regularly experiences cholera outbreaks, including in the capital Harare, due to poor sanitation.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the country has recorded 4,160 suspected cholera cases, with 20 confirmed deaths and 94 suspected deaths since February this year. Enditem
