WARSAW, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Wednesday that the 2027 Volleyball World Championship will be held in Poland.

It will be the third time that Poland hosts the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Men's World Championship.

"This is great news for all sports fans, but it was the phenomenal attitude of our volleyball players and our fans that made it possible for us to once again have the opportunity to organize this event, which has the highest rank, the world rank," Morawiecki said during the second European Congress of Sport and Tourism in Poland's southern town of Zakopane.

In 2014, Poland held its first volleyball worlds, where Poland defeated Brazil 3-1 in the final. In 2022, Poland finished runners-up at home, losing to Italy 3-1.

Poland now ranks first in the FIVB men's volleyball world rankings. Enditem
