Lebanon offers condolences to Iraq over deadly wedding fire

BEIRUT, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday offered his condolences to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani after a huge wedding fire in northern Iraq killed at least 114 people.

In a telegram sent to al-Sudani, Mikati said he was saddened by the tragedy in "brotherly Iraq" and expressed solidarity with the Iraqi government and people.

Lebanon's Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri also extended condolences to Iraq and wished security, safety, and stability in the country.

At least 114 people have been killed and more than 200 injured in a huge fire that broke out during a wedding celebration in the al-Hamdaniya area of northern Iraqi province of Nineveh on Tuesday night. Enditem
