Tanzanian president expresses joy over co-hosting 2027 AFCON

DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday expressed her joy after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had awarded the joint bid of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda the hosting rights of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

"Thank God that we have together with Kenya and Uganda qualified to host the 2027 AFCON," Hassan wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

She directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports to ensure that it supervised preparations for hosting the 2027 AFCON, including overseeing the construction of stadiums in Dodoma and Arusha regions.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe announced the hosts of the 2027 AFCON during a ceremony in Egypt's capital Cairo.
