HARARE -- Six miners died and 15 others were trapped after a mine collapsed Friday morning in Chegutu District, Mashonaland West Province, a top government official has confirmed.

Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development Polite Kambamura told the state broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation on Friday night that a total of 34 miners were trapped after the collapse at Beyhose Mine, but 13 had managed to get out. (Zimbabwe-Mine Collapse-Casualty)

HANOI -- Floods in Vietnam's northern and central regions from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28 killed nine people, left one person missing and injured 10 others, the country's National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said on Saturday.

YAOUNDE -- A UN special representative said on Friday that efforts are being made to demarcate the disputed Cameroon-Nigeria maritime border over the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula peacefully.
