RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo's faltering form continued on Monday as the Brazilian Serie A leaders were held to a 1-1 home draw by relegation-threatened Goias.

The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute when Lucas Halter headed home from inside the six-yard box following a Guilherme Marques cross.

Botafogo equalized just after halftime through Tiquinho Soares, who rifled a long-range effort into the top-right corner after combining with Luis Henrique.

The hosts dominated possession in the latter stages but lacked incisiveness in the final third as their winless run was extended to four games.

Despite their abysmal recent form, the Rio de Janeiro outfit remain seven points ahead of second-placed Bragantino with 13 games left in the title race.

Goias are 16th in the 20-team standings, just one point clear of the relegation zone. Enditem
