SYDNEY -- Local media in Papua New Guinea (PNG) reported on Saturday that a number of injured people have been sent to hospital after two 6.7-magnitude earthquakes jolted the eastern part of the cuontry.

According to the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) of PNG, health workers at the Madang Provincial Hospital have confirmed receiving a group of injured people in the aftermath of the earthquake. (PNG-Earthquake-Casualties)

HERAT, Afghanistan -- At least 15 people have been confirmed dead and 40 others injured in earthquakes that rocked west Afghanistan's Herat, Badghis, Farah provinces and adjoining areas on Saturday.

The country's Natural Disaster Management Authority said in a statement that relatively strong earthquakes struck west of the country including Herat, Badghis and Farah with some aftershocks in the morning. SYDNEY -- Australian police on Saturday reported a fatal shooting in Melbourne, which killed a man at the scene and critically injured another.

The incident happened on Windrock Avenue in Craigieburn, a suburb in Melbourne's north, when some unknown males approached a vehicle in a shopping center car park on foot and fired multiple shots at the two men sitting in it. (Australia-Shooting-Death)
