YANGON, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 268 schools were temporarily closed due to massive flooding in the Bago Region of southern Myanmar, U Kyaw Swar Thwin, a director-general from the Ministry of Education told Xinhua on Friday.

Some schools that were less inundated have been able to reopen while others were still cleaning up the debris left behind by the floods, he added.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) said that according to the observation on Oct. 12, the Bago River is about 2 feet above its danger level and may drop below the critical water level within 2 days. Enditem
