GAZA -- The first shelter camp for displaced Palestinians was set up by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in the battered enclave on Thursday.

CAIRO -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, agreed on the delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing "in a sustainable manner," the Egyptian presidency said in an overnight statement Thursday.

In a phone conversation, Biden appreciated Egypt's efforts toward achieving peace and stability in the region, said the statement.(Egypt-US-Gaza)

COLOMBO -- One person was killed and 18 others injured when a bus veered off a road and fell down a precipice on Thursday in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka, said the police.

PRAGUE -- At least 20 people were injured after two trams collided on Thursday in the western Czech city of Pilsen.
