BAGHDAD, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkish airstrikes in northern Iraq have killed 10 militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and wounded three others, the Counter-Terrorism Service of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region said in a statement on Thursday.

Late on Wednesday, a series of strikes by Turkish warplanes and drones targeted PKK positions in the Sidakan area in Erbil province, killing nine PKK militants, the statement said.

It added that Turkish airstrikes also attacked PKK positions in two areas near the town of Amedi in Dohuk province, killing a PKK militant and wounding three others.

The Turkish forces frequently carry out ground operations, airstrikes, and artillery bombardments in northern Iraq against the PKK, especially in the Qandil Mountains, the main base of the group.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than three decades. Enditem
