ISLAMABAD -- Four criminals were killed and three others injured in a shootout between police and offenders in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Sunday, police said in a statement.

The criminals were robbing a civilian when police reached the spot while routinely patrolling in the city, engaging them in a gun battle in which all four of them were killed, the statement said. (Pakistan-Street Crimes-Police)

QALAT, Afghanistan -- Two commuters have been confirmed dead and 17 others injured as a passenger bus turned turtle in south Afghanistan's Zabul province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Zabihullah Jawhar said.

The passenger bus was heading towards Kabul. Due to reckless driving, it turned turtle in Shahr-e-Safa district, killing two travelers on the spot and injuring 17 others, some in critical condition, the official added. (Afghanistan-Road Accident)

CHATTOGRAM, Bangladesh -- A Chinese-built underwater tunnel, the first in Bangladesh and South Asia, was inaugurated on Saturday as Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid the first toll and went through the tunnel.

ISLAMABAD -- Police in Pakistan's east Punjab province arrested 10 terrorists including a commander of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the counter-terrorism department (CTD) of police said.

The arrests were made when the CTD launched separate operations across the province by acting on intelligence reports regarding the presence of the terrorists, the CTD said in a statement released on Saturday. (Pakistan-Terrorists) Enditem
