HANOI, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total volume of goods passing through seaports rebounded in the first 10 months of this year, hitting over 624.55 million tons, up 3 percent year on year, Vietnam News Agency has reported, citing the Vietnam Maritime Administration.

While the volume of exports decreased slightly by about 1 percent, imports showed a strong growth of around 5 percent, the agency said.

After several months of decline, several areas saw annual increase in seaport throughput, such as Ho Chi Minh City with a 2.72 percent rise, Quang Ninh province 4.8 percent, and Hai Phong city 0.8 percent.

According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, in spite of various difficulties, statistics have shown that the maritime shipping market is gradually recovering after consecutive months of volume decline.

Vietnam's freight transport reached over 1.8 billion tons in the first 10 months of this year, a 14.4 percent year-on-year increase, according to the General Statistics Office. Enditem
