YANGON -- Myanmar earned 271 million U.S. dollars from the export of 583,683 tons of rice and broken rice within seven months in the current fiscal year 2023-2024, according to the figures from the Myanmar Rice Federation on Tuesday.

The Southeast Asian country exported rice and broken rice to more than 20 countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, China and Belgium, it said. (Myanmar-Rice Export)

MANILA -- The Philippines' gross international reserves (GIR) rose to 101.1 billion U.S. dollars at the end of October from 98.1 billion dollars at the end of September, the Philippine central bank said Tuesday night.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said the latest GIR level represents a more than adequate external liquidity buffer equivalent to 7.5 months' worth of imports of goods and payments of services and primary income. (Philippines-GIR-October)

SEOUL -- South Korean banks' household lending rose for the seventh straight month due to solid demand for mortgage loan, central bank data showed Wednesday.

MANILA -- The unemployment rate in the Philippines slightly rose to 4.5 percent in September from 4.4 percent in August, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Wednesday.
