YANGON, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities have seized 39.6 kg of raw opium in the country's eastern state of Shan, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police searched a vehicle in Pinlaung Township of the southern Shan state on Nov. 6 and confiscated the drugs.

The suspect was charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it added.

On the same day, 2,400 stimulant tablets and 10 grams of heroin were seized in Tachilek Township, Shan State, the CCDAC said. Enditem
