TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Monday executed three men convicted of carrying out a number of bombing attacks in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the Mizan news agency of the Iranian judiciary reported.

The convicts had confessed to collaborating with and being trained by the "Jaish al-Zulm group," a separatist cell that Iran says has ties to al-Qaeda, the chief justice of the province Ali Mostafavinia was quoted as saying.

The convicts have also admitted their involvement in two bombing attacks on a boulevard in the provincial capital of Zahedan, a failed bombing attack in Zabul County and two more at a police station in Zahedan, Mostafavinia said, adding the attacks had injured a number of security forces and damaged public property.

A number of tools and equipment used to make bombs, as well as 24 kg of explosives, were found at the home of one of the convicts, he noted.

Also on Monday, local media reported that a border guard was killed and two others injured in an armed clash with members of the "Jaish al-Zulm group."

Earlier this month, the group attacked police patrol units in the province, killing one policeman and injuring four others.

In May, the group's members killed six border guards in an attack in the province's Saravan County.

Bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, the province of Sistan and Baluchestan has witnessed several terrorist attacks on both civilians and security forces over the past years. Enditem
