DHAKA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Hindu community in Bangladesh's Narayanganj district near capital Dhaka on Tuesday celebrated Rakher Upobash, a religious fasting festival.

It is one of famous Hindu religious festivals in Bangladesh.

Rakher Upobash was celebrated in Loknath Brahmachari Ashram (temple) in Narayanganj district.

Like in previous years, thousands of Hindu devotees gathered at Loknath temple on Tuesday to celebrate the festival.

Lighting thousands of small lamps and special incense, worshipers prayed in earnest to gods for favors during the festival.

As the sun goes down, devotees sit faithfully surrounding the temple, light up their earthen lamps and an incense burner used to create smoke for traditional rituals with "ululation", a pious sound made by Hindu Bengali women on every auspicious occasion. Enditem
