SYDNEY -- Two former military planes on a training flight collided on Sunday over the Mornington Peninsula in southeast Australia, sending one plummeting into the water, local media reported.

One plane crashed into the ocean about 12 km off the coast of Mount Martha while the other plane made it back to its base after the disaster struck about 1:45 p.m. local time (0245 GMT), The Herald Sun reported. (Australia-Plane Crash)

MAIMANA, Afghanistan -- Police have detained a weapon smuggler and seized arms and ammunition in north Afghanistan's Faryab province, a statement from the provincial police office said on Sunday.

The contraband was seized from the smuggler in the Qaisar district on Saturday, including three pieces of AKM assault rifles, 13 pistols, 20 hand grenades and hundreds of bullets and projectiles, the statement said, adding the local man had been taken into custody for further investigation. KUALA LUMPUR -- Heavy rain and flooding are expected in Malaysia's east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu in the coming days, with authorities on Sunday warning those at risk to take precautions.
