PHNOM PENH, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has produced nearly 9 tons of dore bars with 90 percent pure gold solution since commercial mining began in June 2021, Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak said here on Tuesday.

Speaking at a forum on "Mine and Energy Policy in Cambodia", Rattanak said currently, six companies have been refining gold ore in the Southeast Asian country.

"To date, Cambodia has produced 1,040 gold bars, totally weighing 8,979 kg," he said. "The government made more than 14.4 million U.S. dollars in royalties from those mining firms."

Of the six companies, Renaissance Minerals, a subsidiary of Australia-listed Emerald Resources NL, in northeastern Mondulkiri province received high yields, while the other five received low yields.

Cambodia started extracting gold ore for the first time at a gold mining site in Keo Seima district in Mondulkiri province in June 2021. Renaissance Minerals is the developer of the mining site there. Enditem
