BEIRUT -- Nine people were killed on Tuesday in four Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon, as confrontations on the Lebanon-Israel borders intensified for over six weeks, Lebanese military and medical sources said.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that four people were killed in Chaaitiyeh village in southwestern Lebanon after their four-wheel vehicle was attacked by an air-to-surface missile launched by an Israeli drone. (Lebanon-Casualties-Airstrikes)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope on Tuesday that a deal to free hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip would be finalized "soon" and called for special cabinet meetings in response to "developments" related to the emerging deal.

"We are making progress," Netanyahu said, addressing the Qatar-mediated efforts to sign a deal to free some of the hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and a multi-day temporary cease-fire. GAZA -- At least 20 Palestinians were killed and dozens of others wounded by Israeli attacks on the besieged coastal enclave, the Hamas-run health ministry said Tuesday.

"At least 20 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on two residential houses in al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza," the health ministry said in a press statement. (Gaza-Israeli attacks-Casualties)

YANGON -- Myanmar Fire Services Department said Tuesday that a total of 75 people were killed and 184 others injured in fire accidents reported so far this year in the Southeast Asian country.

As of Nov. 21, a total of 1,245 fire accidents have been recorded, causing damage estimated to be at over 16 billion kyats (about 7.6 million U.S. dollars), Director of Myanmar Fire Services Department, U Thet Tun Oo told Xinhua. (Myanmar-Fires) Enditem
