MONTEVIDEO, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez scored twice as Uruguay swept Bolivia 3-0 at home in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier here on Tuesday.

Nunez put the hosts ahead at Estadio Centenario by volleying into the far corner after Facundo Pellistri's driving run and cross from the right byline.

Bolivia gifted Uruguay its second goal when Celeste goalkeeper Sergio Rochet parried clear a Nicolas de la Cruz corner only for the ball to rebound into the net off Gabriel Villamil.

Nunez made it 3-0 when he nodded in from close range after De la Cruz's headed pass.

The result marked Uruguay's third straight victory and leaves Marcelo Bielsa's men with 13 points from six matches. Bolivia has three points, with one win and five losses so far.

Meanwhile, Colombia also continued its strong start to the South American zone qualifiers after a first-half penalty from Rafael Santos Borre gave them a 1-0 away win over Paraguay.

The Cafeteros now has 12 points and has yet to lose in the tournament. Paraguay has five points with just one victory to date.

In Quito, Angel Mena's first-half strike fired Ecuador to a 1-0 victory over Chile. Enditem
