NAHA, Japan -- Residents of the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, during a large-scale anti-war rally, have vehemently opposed the attempts by the Japanese government and U.S. military to turn Okinawa into a military fortress.

NEW DELHI -- Afghanistan's Embassy in the Indian capital New Delhi has been closed permanently, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan said in a statement on Friday.

SYDNEY -- Eighteen homes have been destroyed in a devastating bushfire that tore through parts of Western Australia, local authorities said on Friday.
