HANOI -- Vietnam will impose the global minimum tax on foreign companies from Jan. 1 next year, according to a resolution approved by the Vietnamese National Assembly on Wednesday.

The tax rate will be 15 percent for multinational enterprises with total revenue of at least 750 million euros (about 800 million U.S. dollars) in two years of the four most recent years. (Vietnam-Tax)

NEW DELHI -- India's foreign ministry Wednesday said it has set up a high-level committee to look into the security concerns raised by the United States on a nexus between organized criminals, gun runners and terrorists.

British daily Financial Times last week reported that the United States authorities thwarted a plot to kill a Canadian and American citizen Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. TOKYO -- A U.S. Osprey military transport aircraft carrying six people crashed in waters off Japan's southwestern island of Yakushima on Wednesday, with one man found near the site confirmed dead, local media reported.

One person found near the accident site who is believed to have been on the aircraft was confirmed dead, and what appeared to be a large amount of debris from the Osprey was spotted floating on the sea, Kyodo News reported, citing the Japan Coast Guard. (Japan-Osprey crash)

SEOUL -- The foreign home ownership in South Korea rose in the first half due to higher housing possession by Chinese people, government data showed Wednesday.

The number of homes, possessed by foreign nationals, stood at 87,223 at the end of June, up 4.4 percent from six months earlier, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. (South Korea-Home Ownership) Enditem
