COLOMBO -- The Maldives and India have inked a pact to end the latter's military presence in the islands country, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu said Sunday, according to news reaching here from Male, capital of the Maldives.

India agreed to withdraw its military personnel from the Maldives after a series of constructive meetings and dialogues between the two countries, Muizzu told a press briefing at the Velana International Airport after returning from official visits to Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates, according to a press release by his office. MOSCOW -- Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) on Monday imposed import restrictions on fruits and vegetables from Moldova.

"Rosselkhoznadzor is forced to reinstate restrictions introduced in 2022 on the import of regulated products from the Republic of Moldova to Russia from Dec. 4, 2023," the agricultural watchdog said in a statement on Thursday. (Russia-Moldova-Import Ban)

BISSAU -- President Umaro Sissoco Embalo on Monday dissolved Guinea-Bissau's parliament after meeting with the Council of State, the president's consultative body, according to a presidential decree.

According to the decree, an attack by a heavily armed National Guard group on the judicial police building in the capital Bissau last week aimed to "subvert the constitutional order" and resulted in a tragic loss of life. (Guinea-Bissau-Parliament)

NEW DELHI -- Fresh violence in the northeastern state of Manipur Monday killed 13 people, multiple local media reports said.

The bodies were recovered by paramilitary Assam Rifles who launched a search operation after receiving intelligence information about a firefight in Leithu area of Tengnoupal district, about 60 km southeast of Manipur, the capital city of Imphal. (India-Manipur-Violence) Enditem
