SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's imported car sales logged a double-digit fall last month amid rising concerns about an economic slowdown, industry data showed Tuesday.
The number of imported vehicles sold here stood at 24,740 in November, down 12.3 percent from the same month of last year, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association.
The double-digit reduction was attributed to the economic slump that led to weakened private consumption.
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz ranked first in terms of automotive sales here among foreign companies by selling 7,168 units last month.
Another German automaker BMW came next with local sales of 7,032 units, followed by Volvo with 1,640 units, Audi with 1,392 units and Lexus with 1,183 units.
The number of European models sold here was 20,833 last month, accounting for 84.2 percent of the total. Japanese and U.S. brands recorded a market share of 8.9 percent and 6.9 percent each.
For the first 11 months of this year, the imported vehicle sales totaled 243,811 units, down 3.9 percent compared to the same period of last year. Enditem
