LJUBLJANA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The German and Slovenian foreign ministers expressed their support for European Union (EU) enlargement at a meeting in Slovenia's capital Ljubljana on Tuesday.

"The EU is our life insurance, so it is crucial that we talk about enlargement," German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock told reporters during her first visit to Slovenia.

Meanwhile, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon emphasized that EU enlargement is necessary, and that the EU has begun discussions on how to prepare to take in new members by 2030. It is also considering how to help applicant countries to undertake the reforms that will allow them to join the EU.

The two ministers are planning a joint visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina next year, said Fajon, as a part of the effort to speed up EU enlargement.

Fajon and Baerbock also expressed their support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

"The Israelis can only live safely when the Palestinians live safely and vice versa," said Baerbock. Enditem
