RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo midfielder Erick Pulgar said Thursday that the arrival of Tite as head coach has transformed the team's fortunes and laid a platform for a successful 2024 season.

The former Brazil national team boss helped secure a top-four finish in the Brazilian Serie A and an automatic berth in the 2024 Copa Libertadores after taking charge of the Rio de Janeiro club amid a poor run of results in early October.

"Tite's arrival was the best thing that happened to us," Pulgar told reporters.

"Since he arrived, the group has regained the confidence to be able to play our best football. I think the manager has laid the foundation for next season to be better than this one."

Pulgar, who has been capped 48 times for Chile's national team, has been one of Flamengo's most consistent performers since joining the club from Italy's Fiorentina in July 2022.

In 2023, the 29-year-old made 44 first-team appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists. Enditem
