HANOI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese localities and businesses have made strong investments in clam's sustainable production to achieve international certifications, creating a foundation to expand exports, Vietnam News reported Tuesday.

The newspaper cited the project between Lenger Seafood Vietnam Co., Ltd and northern Nam Dinh province as an example of locality-business cooperation in clam's sustainable production.

The company has become the first unit to invest in processing commercial clams in Nam Dinh province for export and achieve Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification for Vietnamese clams.

Nam Dinh province's fisheries sub-department has joined the company's efforts to build a high-tech clam seed production project and a clam farming model in ponds.

According to the Vietnam Fisheries Association, Vietnamese clams, especially the Myratrix Lyrata white clam, have great competitiveness in the world market.

Vietnamese clam products have been presented in nearly 60 markets worldwide. Enditem
