PHNOM PENH, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia cracked down on 137 human trafficking and sexual exploitation cases in the first 10 months of 2023, up from 134 cases in the same period last year, the Interior Ministry said in a report on Saturday.

According to the report, 23 cases of human trafficking and 114 cases related to sexual exploitation were registered during the January-October period, and the authorities arrested 160 suspects, including 10 foreigners, and rescued 424 victims.

Interior Ministry's Secretary of State Chou Bun Eng, who is also permanent vice-chair of a national committee for countering trafficking, said the crackdown reflected the kingdom's strong efforts to protect and rescue people from all forms of human trafficking.

"The government will continue to do its best to eliminate all forms of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in order to promote the respect for human rights, dignity and social justice," she said. Enditem
