VIENTIANE, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Lao Ministry of Health emphasized its commitment to scale up efforts to strengthen maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response.
"For successful implementation of the next phase of the reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health strategy, building coordination capacity at the local level is important for local authorities to respond to local needs to achieve universal health coverage," Center of Information and Education for Health under the ministry on Friday quoted Lao Deputy Minister of Health Sanong Thongsana as saying on an annual meeting on the topic held last week.
The Lao government is committed to achieving zero preventable maternal deaths, zero unmet needs for family planning, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices. Enditem
