YANGON, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar earned over 3.1 billion U.S. dollars from the export of finished garments between April 1 and Dec. 15 this year, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.

During the period, the export of finished garments secured the top position in Myanmar's foreign revenue earnings, followed by the natural gas export with over 2.36 billion dollars and the black grams export with over 501 million dollars, respectively, showed the ministry's data.

In Myanmar, garments were mainly manufactured under the cut-make-pack (CMP) system.

Myanmar exported the CMP garments to 80 countries during the period. Japan, Poland, Spain, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, France, Denmark and Belgium are the main destinations of Myanmar's garments.

In the 2022-23 fiscal year, Myanmar earned 5.3 billion dollars from the export of CMP garments to over 100 countries, official figures showed.

The Southeast Asian country's overall export earnings during the period reached over 10.13 billion dollars, according to the data. Enditem
