KABUL -- Afghanistan's national currency remains stable in the outgoing year 2023, spokesman for the country's central bank Haseebullah Noori has said.

"The afghani has increased by 26.4 percent in 2023 compared to 2022, which is a great achievement for Da Afghanistan Bank," the local television channel Tolonews on Sunday quoted Noori as saying. (Afghanistan-Currency)

TOKYO -- Japan's space agency has decided to launch the H3 rocket, developed as a successor to the current mainstay launch vehicle, in mid-February, about a year after the first attempt failed.

The second H3 rocket is scheduled to take off between 9:22 a.m. and 1:06 p.m. on Feb. 15 from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA. (Japan-H3 Rocket)

NEW DELHI -- At least six people died, and around nine others injured when a fire broke out inside a factory in India's southwestern state of Maharashtra on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, confirmed a local cop to Xinhua over phone.

The fire broke out inside a hand-gloves manufacturing unit in the state's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, when the victims were asleep. (India-Fire-Deaths)

MACAO -- The amendments to the Chief Executive Election Law of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is to take effect on Jan. 1, 2024, the Macao SAR government said on Sunday.

Nominees for the election of the Macao SAR chief executive and candidates for electing members of the chief executive electoral committee must meet the qualifications of upholding the Macao SAR Basic Law and pledging allegiance to the Macao SAR, according to the amendments. YANGON -- Myanmar's Ministry of Commerce has launched a new registration system for online sales businesses in November and will introduce registration fees for online services, effective on Jan. 1, 2024.

The registration and renewal fees were stipulated at 70,000 kyats (about 33.33 U.S. dollars) for companies, 50,000 kyats (about 23.8 dollars) for small and medium enterprises, and 30,000 kyats (about 14.28 dollars) for individuals, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday. ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan witnessed a sharp surge in militant attacks in 2023 as the country saw a staggering 69 percent rise in militant attacks and an 81 percent increase in resultant deaths, an Islamabad-based think-tank said on Sunday.

In 2023, at least 641 militant attacks occurred across the country in which 974 people were killed, while in 2022, Pakistan suffered 380 militant attacks resulting in 539 deaths, a statistical report released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said.
