GAZA -- At least 15 Palestinians were killed and several others wounded Monday in an Israeli airstrike on the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, local Palestinian sources said.

The sources told Xinhua that the Israeli airstrike targeted a house that was occupied by displaced people who had fled their homes because of the ongoing Israeli offensive. (Gaza-Israel-Airstrikes)

SAO PAULO -- At least three people were killed and 14 others injured in an explosion that occurred Sunday in an apartment building in northeast Brazil, the local Fire Brigade reported Monday.

The explosion occurred in a 44-apartment building in the city of Aracaju, capital of the state of Sergipe, due to a gas leak from a cylinder inside a kitchen, the report said. (Brazil-Building Explosion)

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Ukraine's shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod is a "terrorist act."

BEIRUT -- Three Hezbollah fighters were killed on Monday in confrontations with Israeli forces on the border area in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources said.
