LUANDA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Angola's trade surplus with neighboring countries, namely the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia, Zambia and the Republic of the Congo, fell by 39.5 percent to 106 million U.S. dollars in 2023, local media reported Wednesday.

In 2023, from Jan. 1 to Dec. 19, Angola's exports to its four neighboring countries decreased by 32 percent in value compared to the previous year, totaling 184 million U.S. dollars, the country's daily newspaper, Jornal de Angola, reported, citing Angola's General Tax Administration.

Among these countries, the Democratic Republic of the Congo was the primary destination for Angola's exports, it said.

During the same period, Angola's imports from these four countries fell by 21 percent in value, reaching 78 million dollars. Namibia was the main source of Angola's imports among the neighboring countries, it added.

According to official data, these four countries constituted a small portion of Angola's total trade in exports and imports. Angola's major trading partner countries for exports include China and India. Enditem
