THE HAGUE, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The leader of the Dutch far-right Party for Freedom (PVV) Geert Wilders on Monday withdrew three controversial draft bills which were considered as obstacles to the formation of a new government.

The PVV won the Dutch elections last November by a landslide, and has begun negotiating with other major Dutch parties on the formation of a center-right-wing government.

The draft bills were previously submitted by the PVV to the House of Representatives. They have been heavily criticized, and have never had parliamentary majority support.

Since the elections, Wilders has moderated his tone, and the latest move is seen as a gesture of compromise towards the other parties in coalition talks.

After a break of two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, the PVV is scheduled to resume negotiations with the right-wing People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), the new centrist party New Social Contract (NSC), and the farmers' movement BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) on Tuesday.
