MOSCOW, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Russia has demonstrated that it is a self-sufficient country in every respect, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
"The main idea that we proved to ourselves and the whole world is that Russia is a self-sufficient country in every sense of the word," the Kremlin said, citing the president during a meeting with the local residents of Anadyr, the capital of Russia's Chukotka Autonomous Area.
"Even Europe's leading economies are undergoing difficult times," Putin noted, adding that while Russia's economy is growing, European economies are experiencing a decline.
Putin noted that Europe's dependence on Russia turned out to be stronger than Russia's reliance on Europe.
He said that Russia remains a strong country that continues to look forward with confidence, adding that this was one of the most important results of the past year. Enditem
