PHNOM PENH, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday signed a sub-decree to sack Kep municipal mayor Kheng Yorn from his post.

In the sub-decree, the prime minister said "Kheng Yorn is terminated from the post of the mayor of the Kep Municipality in Kep province."

Hun Manet said the decision was made based on substantial evidence following an investigation launched by the Anti-Corruption Unit.

"The mayor of the Kep Municipality had used the power of his position to commit acts that harmed the interests of the state and the people," he said in a text released in his official Telegram channel, along with the sub-decree.

The prime minister also warned officials at all levels to avoid corruption, saying that if they are found of committing wrongdoing that seriously affects the interests of the nation and the people, they will no longer be tolerated. Enditem
