TOKYO -- The death toll rose to 220 in the central Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa on Sunday, after a series of strong quakes of up to 7.6 magnitude jolted the prefecture and its vicinity, as snow and rain continued in the quake-stricken region.

The number of people who remained unaccounted for dropped to 20 in the hardest-hit prefecture as of 9 a.m. local time, while at least 1,015 people suffered injuries due to the quakes, local authorities said. (Japan-Noto-Earthquake)

ISLAMABAD -- Five soldiers and three terrorists were killed in a clash in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, an army statement said.

SAO PAULO -- At least two people, including a six-year-old boy, died and another is missing as a result of floods and landslides, after five days of storms in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, the local fire department reported Saturday.

The boy drowned after being swept away by a flood early Saturday in the municipality of Juquitiba, in the suburbs of Sao Paulo, and a 48-year-old man died Friday night in Sao Bernardo do Campo after his house collapsed due to a landslide. (Brazil-Floods)

LA PAZ -- A head-on collision on Saturday left seven dead and three injured in western Bolivia, according to local media.

The collision, involving two public transit vehicles -- a van and a bus, occurred near the town of Challapata in the western department of Oruro. (Bolivia-Road Accident) Enditem
